Expert gives tips for those who want to start in the area

Starting a new career is always a challenge.. Driven by professional satisfaction, guys, search for better remuneration or any other reason, many professionals who have passed the 40 years of age decide to change professional areas. Entering a new market in this age group is possible, but requires a certain amount of caution, persistence, family support and financial planning, as the return may take some time.

An area that is very sought after by those who want to start over is the Information Technology, because it is always expanding and the market remains hot. But is there room in this sector for new professionals who have passed the 40 Years?

There is a false perception that IT is a “youth thing” because, in general, they tend to be more attuned to news in the digital world. But, this perception does not correspond to reality.

Good companies understand that professionals more mature tend to have very positive characteristics, such as responsibility, commitment, tranquility and balance to deal with adverse situations. More important than the age of the professional who is (re) starting is your willingness to keep up to date, the main requirement of the IT market.

Luis Claure Mejía, he is one of those people who faced the challenges and decided to reinvent himself. After more than 20 years working in the area of property security, decided it was time to take a career turn. Em 2017, to the 47 Years, started the IT Management course. Luis explains that he started looking for jobs in the area right at the beginning of the course, but he didn't get any opportunities right away. He insisted, continued studying, taking improvement courses, keeping up with market trends and, finally, got his first internship in January 2023 na Hypesoft.

“When I decided to make the career transition, the fact that I already have 47 years left me a little insecure, but I faced this whole process with a lot of positivity. I always had the willpower to pursue my goals. There was a lot of planning, resilience, persistence, dedication and, mainly, Lot of study", explains Luis.

Rafaella Cardoso Novaes, Hypesoft Recruitment Manager, explains that professionals with more than 40 Years, even if they have no experience in the area they are entering, they arrive with knowledge of the corporate world and this makes them resilient, communicative and engaged.

“Age should not be a deciding factor for companies when hiring. At Hypesoft it's not. I believe that professionals with different ages working together bring diversity and this helps in the evolution of the team”, Rafaella says.

Luis was hired by Rafaella and Tiago Domingues Lupoli, also Recruitment Manager at Hypesoft. Both comment that the new intern was very hardworking and determined to enter the world of tech recruiter. For that, had already taken courses and work as a freelancer in the area.

“Traits like willpower, disposition, enthusiasm, A sparkle in his eyes and a great desire to work in the area were key factors in hiring Luis”, say Rafaella and Tiago.

Luis's story is a good example that age is not a determining factor for entering the IT market. What really makes a difference is the dedication and how much this professional has studied and continues to study. Staying up to date is the golden rule., because we are talking about a segment that changes constantly and in a very dynamic way.
