New cheese factory in Paraná surpasses 30% of works

With high technology and investment of BRL 460 millions, the expectation is that the start of industrial activities will take place in the first half of 2024

Who goes through the Milk Processing Unit (UBL), in Ponta Grossa (PR), can already visualize the greatness of the Unium Cheese Factory, the industry will generate new jobs and further increase the productivity of Campos Gerais. The new enterprise of the Unium intercooperation (institutional brand of Frisia cooperative industries, Castrolanda and Capal) already has 30% of structured works.

No total, the investment is R$ 460 millions, with the generation of 66 direct jobs and 1.570 indirect, consolidating more and more the concept of intercooperation, given that, in three cooperatives, the investment for a project of this magnitude becomes possible and viable.

The operation marks the entry of the brands in the segment of cheeses, already explored by other cooperatives. “The expectation is that the start of industrial activities will take place in the first half of 2024. With the new production unit, will be consumed 600 thousand liters more milk per day, adding even more value to the productin nature, generating even more income for members. The project envisages the production of 96 tons of products and by-products per day”, highlights the commercial manager of Unium, Egidio Maffei.

With cutting-edge solutions, that make the operation a reference in quality and modernity in the Brazilian dairy industry, the sector will now have a modern factory, with technology and high efficiency. The cheese factory presents the possibility of expanding the range of products, with production capacity of 800 thousand liters a day, ou seja, 80 tons of cheese and 40 tons of whey powder. “Accompanying the growth in milk production of our cooperative members, the group went ahead and looked for a profitable solution to show the partners that all the increase will be reversed in products with high added value”, explains Egidio.

The industrial plant will produce the mozzarella cheese, prato, cheddar, the dough for cheese, butter with and without salt and whey powder. Whey protein is already part of the brand's portfolio, focusing on the B2B market.
