Akad and Oggi celebrate partnership with 14 months of free insurance for cyclists
Insurer and manufacturer celebrate 5 years of the partnership that anticipated trends for the insured bike market in Brazil
In March 2018, the Brazilian OGGI became the first manufacturer in the world to sell its Bikes already insured against theft or aggravated theft.
The initiative, designed from a partnership with Akad Seguros, completes five years with the two companies celebrating the preference of cyclists and designing novelties for those who want to pedal with more tranquility and safety.
Pioneer in digital bicycle protection products, Akad has announced that it will expand the number of 12 for 14 months the offer of free insurance for those who purchase the entire line of bicycles of OGGI.
At the end of the period, the insurer promises to offer special conditions for the cyclist to continue renewing the protection.
"With cycling gaining more fans in the country and bicycles increasingly expensive, well equipped and consequently more targeted, it would be natural for people to want to go out cycling with fewer worries.", explains the director of Financial Lines of Akad Seguros, Fernando Gonçalves. "We anticipated five years ago what is now a trend in the market with an uncomplicated product that fits in the pockets of cyclists", completes the executive.
In addition to the 14 free months and special renewal conditions, Gonçalves highlights the simplified journey of insurance activation as another differential to conquer cyclists. Akad was the first insurer in Brazil to offer bike insurance in a fully digital model.
The scan allows the customer to access the OGGI website and fill in data such as address and serial number to register the bike. Done this, just wait a few minutes to receive the insurance policy in the email.
"We gave the idea that the cyclist had that taking insurance was boring., complex and full of bureaucracies", celebrates OGGI marketing manager, Vinicius Oliveira. "The market accepted it very well and we had an immediate impact on sales., today it is already unfeasible to talk about more sophisticated bikes without talking about insurance", explains Oliveira.
In case of a claim, Akad guarantees replacement by a bicycle of the same model. If the model is no longer available in the market, the replacement is made by an OGGI bike of similar or higher model.
"When I had my Hacker Sport stolen in 2021, the bike was reset in 45 days", confirms the entrepreneur Bruno Diniz Betcer. "Nowadays good insurance is a basic safety requirement for any professional or casual cyclist., especially in cities like São Paulo, where robberies grow every year.", reports Betcer.
Founded in 2014, OGGI develops its line of bicycles in the Manaus Free Trade Zone, with imported parts and components. They are urban models, MTB, Electric, high-speed and for leisure ranging from R$ 2 thousand up to R$ 65 mil.
"The project with Akad began gradually and today it is part of our entire line., it is a differential that cyclists value and that already makes a lot of difference in our business", justifies Oliveira.
Driven by partnership with OGGI and other manufacturers, Akad came close to doubling the number of policies issued for its bike insurance in 2022.
The company recorded a record number higher than 75 a thousand policies last year. Em 2021, policies were just over 39 mil.
